Why mentoring in Cornerstone?
The primary purpose of mentoring in ministry is to nurture spiritual growth, build stronger communities, and equip individuals for more effective service, ultimately glorifying God in who we are and what we do. It involves a relationship where experienced pastors and ministry leaders, or mentors, guide and support both younger ministry leaders or new ministry leaders in their faith and ecclesiastical journey, helping them mature and understand how to live out their faith in a practical way in the various ministry roles one may serve.
The Conference Mentorship Ministry program was launched in 2025 with an initial informational ZOOM meeting with potential mentors on Tuesday, January 21.
We have developed a Mentoring Ministry Handbook for each participant that provides the framework for our objectives and goals. The Mentoring program also uses John Maxwell’s book “Mentoring 101: What Every Leader Needs to Know” as a first resource to assist in forming each mentoring relationship. Each participant (mentor and mentee) will receive a copy of this textbook from the Conference.
A ChurchCenter Mentorship information page will provide a register of the participants, the Mentoring Handbook, additional information, resources, and other pertinent information.
A follow-up ZOOM meeting was held on Monday, February 24, with the mentors to make the first mentees' assignments. We have twenty-six mentees who were assigned and have been contacted to inform them of their mentor. Each mentee is asked to contact their mentor to begin the mentoring relationship.
There will be periodic follow-up contact with the mentors and mentees by the Mentoring Program Director to encourage, inspire, and pray with the participants. In addition, there will be both ZOOM and in-person meetings to build and expand this network of participants and vital ministry of Cornerstone Conference.
If you have interest or questions about the mentoring ministry, you may contact Dr. Tim Nelson or the Conference Office.
