Easter People - Living in the Power of the Resurrection

Article by: Bishop Mike Ainsworth

Easter stands at the very center of our faith—not merely as a day we remember, but as a reality we live. As Holy Spirit-filled believers, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ as both a historical certainty and a present, life-transforming power. The empty tomb declares that He is alive—and because He lives, everything has changed.

The resurrection affirms who Jesus is: the Son of God and our risen King. As the apostle Paul declares, He was “declared to be the Son of God with power…by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4). We do not serve a distant Savior, but One who lives and continually intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25).

Easter is not only proof—it is promise.

Scripture assures us, “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…He…will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit” (Romans 8:11). The same resurrection power that raised Christ from the dead now lives in us. We are not left to strive in our own strength—we are empowered daily by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

Because He lives, we walk in victory. Sin has been defeated, death has lost its sting, and the grave has no dominion (1 Corinthians 15:54–57). In Christ, we have forgiveness, new life, and the confident hope of our own resurrection. This is not distant theology—it is present assurance.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Resurrection life is abundant life—a Spirit-formed life marked by peace, purpose, and spiritual vitality. It is sustained by grace and anchored in unshakable hope.

This resurrection power also brings healing and restoration. The prophet Isaiah reminds us, “by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). The same power that raised Christ is still at work today—bringing wholeness to the broken, freedom to the bound, and restoration to the weary. Nothing is beyond the reach of our risen Savior.

This is why we are Easter people.

We carry hope into a hurting world. We stand in faith when circumstances are uncertain. We live with unwavering confidence that our God is faithful and our Savior is alive. Easter is not just something we celebrate—it is who we are.

As we reflect on the resurrection, let us live in its power. May our churches be marked by transformed lives, Spirit-filled worship, and renewed passion for the mission of God. Let us preach with boldness and clarity the unchanging truth: because He lives, we live also (John 14:19)—now and forever.
