Adventures in Faith: Ranger Kids Field Day!

This year's Cornerstone Conference Ranger Kids Field Day was a fun and faith-inspiring event for kindergarten through second-grade boys and girls. Royal Rangers Commanders Eddie Knighten and Eddie Elliott planned and facilitated this year’s event of which the theme was Frontiersman Camping Fellowship (FCF). Attendees participated in activities including preparation of a dessert in a Dutch oven, a frying pan toss, Velcro axe throw, suction-cup dart throw, BB target shoot, foam ball target shoot, and nine pin. While excitement abounded in these activities, attendees also got to touch and feel history as they got to handle a variety of frontiersman items while having the use of each item explained to them by FCF members. Additionally, attendees got to feel of animal furs ranging from beaver to skunk and try on some fur hats.

Commander Knighten used a walking stick to teach a memorable object lesson on Friday night. The walking stick he held as the object had been vine-wrapped and deer-rubbed. Though both were difficult for the tree, they created unusual beauty for this particular walking stick. God uses the difficulties in our lives to make us beautiful and strong, like the walking stick, if we allow Him. On Saturday, he expanded the object lesson, showing multiple walking sticks and talking about how each believer in Jesus is a unique and special creation.

Be on the lookout for Ranger Kids Field Day on next year’s calendar!
