Everyone Can Do Something

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, a meaningful time to reflect on the call God places on His people to care for vulnerable children and families. Scripture reminds us in James 1:27 that pure religion is to care for orphans and those in need, and foster care ministry is one powerful way the Church can live out that calling.

Not everyone is called to become a foster parent, but everyone can do something. Whether through prayer, mentorship, financial support, respite care, providing meals, or simply encouraging foster families, each person has a role to play in creating a community of care.

The IPHC offers several valuable resources for those interested in learning more and becoming involved. Ministries such as the Christian Alliance for Orphans, CarePortal, the 111 Project, COMPACT Family Services, and More Than Enough provide practical pathways for churches and individuals to support children and families in crisis. These resources help connect local churches with real needs in their communities and offer guidance for building sustainable foster care and adoption ministries.

Two helpful books, Everyone Can Do Something and Until There Is More Than Enough, also offer encouragement and practical insight for those who want to better understand how they can make a difference.

Closer to home, Falcon Children's Home and Family Services continues to serve children and families through its foster care program. For those living in that area, this ministry provides an opportunity to become directly involved in fostering, supporting foster families, and helping children experience safe, loving homes rooted in Christian care. This month, let us prayerfully consider how we can respond. Foster care awareness is not just about recognizing a need, it is about becoming part of the solution. Whether big or small, every act of compassion matters.

Because truly, everyone can do something.
